As MicroFlicks Malawi concludes it’s amazing trip I wanted to take a moment to highlight the team that made this all possible.
First off, our Malawi team was incredible! David Ng’ambi from VisionFund Malawi and Limbani Nsapato from World Vision Malawi were really the ones that made all of this possible.
Limbani, also known as the producer, was invaluable with getting schedules together, organising client meetings and generally being awesome. One downside to bringing him along is that he was an internet bandwidth hog. Each night he would try to download most of the worlds information to the World Vision website, leaving us with about one kb of wifi to work with. I wouldn’t have had it any other way though.
Since arriving David Ng’ambi has been the perfect host. He hasn’t complained once, even when standing in the scorching heat during filming, and has been willing to jump in wherever he could during the process. He has also been the one to work on all of the Malawi side of things before our trip started. Since the beginning phone call with him, his laughter and joy have kept the entire trip fun and we couldn’t have done it without him.
This trip has also been such an amazing collaboration with World Vision New Zealand. Since the first time they heard about MicroFlicks they have wanted to be a part of the process any way they could. Social Media Advisor Lindsey Talerico-Hedren ended up coming along on the trip to assist, support and generally be awesome the entire trip. Lindsey has provided much-needed comic relief this trip. I can’t remember laughing as hard as I have from some of the stuff Lindsey has said. She has been enthusiastic the entire trip and I look forward to working with her in the future. By the way, she is probably one of the best social media people I’ve ever met! #word
Finally, the man, the myth, the legend, Michael Hobbs! Michael has been a complete stud this trip. There were lot’s of question marks as to who exactly we were going to film, as well as where we were shooting, but he has been completely flexible during the process. It has been amazing to work with such a talented and creative individual. He can show up to where we will film and know exactly where he wants to go and how to get the best shot for the location. Not only that, he is so enjoyable to work with. His laid back, jovial nature, and british humor, has really created some fun times (that and all the funny things that Lindsey says). It’s also great to watch him interact with the clients. He has a way of making them feel completely comfortable, which creates natural footage that feels like you are right there.
Michael has hours of work ahead of him to edit video, splice sections, sync sound and put in subtitles. From what I’ve seen so far it’s going to be amazing! Thanks MFMalawi team for making this happen! You guys rock!
Make sure and follow the other MicroFlicks teams on our Blog, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts. There will be lots of good times ahead and you won’t want to miss it.
Oh, make sure and vote for Michael’s video when the time comes
